march09-21After graduating from UCLA we both landed in New York City and became roommates in a (tiny!) West Village apartment. We lived the single life, focused on our respective careers, met wonderful husbands, obsessed over 2 elaborate weddings, endured 5 intensive renovations, and survived pregnancy on modified bed rest. During which, we traded hundreds of emails about nursery design, decorating ideas and paint colors in anticipation of the births of our kids: Gigi, Gray and Austin. Prompted by HGTV.com’s “Rate My Space”, Melisa posted pictures of Austin’s new LA “crib” on the web. Just days later, after receiving an overwhelming 26,000 hits, 266 comments and attention that sparked online decorating debates, an idea was born: Project Nursery!

First and foremost, we are Moms. Moms who enjoy the process of design, appreciate new ideas, taking cues from our friends, the media and online communities. We started this business by converting many of the ideas we exchanged over the years into a blog format and it has simply taken off from there. Our mission is to inspire others with kid design. The Project Nursery site serves as a platform for our readers to also share, advise and showcase their child’s room design, products and ideas.

While we host the Project Nursery name, any mother knows that kid savvy design begins with the nursery and continues throughout the home. We cover everything from kids rooms, playrooms and eco-friendly finds to all around cool elements for the whole family to enjoy.

According to our husbands, our blog is just another excuse to talk daily since moving to new and separate cities. For us, it’s a true passion and an outlet from being MOM everyday…

Claire brings a little tradition to the table although she’s been known to incorporate a touch of modern every now and again (Just ask about the puppy chair in her living room!). Her likes include perfumed lotions, candles, and the fresh smell of clean laundry! Enamored by pretty papers and stationary, she’s the thoughtful friend that doesn’t skip a beat when it comes to sending out a greeting card for that special occasion or holiday. Claire loves to travel, entertain, and play chess when she’s not making goofy faces to entertain her toddler, Max. Claire most recently served on the board of the San Francisco Opera BRAVO! Club.

Kim is our ultra-crafty party-planning extraordinaire! She is all about the details! Whether it is planning a party or decorating a room, she it isn’t finished until every aspect is attended to! She loves designing invitations, crafting, photography, flower arranging & home decorating (especially baby & children’s rooms)! Mommy to two little ones, Tommy & Kate, Kim founded a group of moms, Domestic Divas, that get together regularly to craft, chat & share mommy stories. Kim recently found an outlet for her creativity with her blog, TheTomKatStudio.com and now writing for Project Nursery!

Rebecca’s love of decorating started early in life. It was 5th grade when she removed her closet doors and placed her bed in the closet to maximize play space. Unable to surrender her paint brush until every line was perfect in a recent kitchen makeover, Rebecca decided it was time to share her love of decorating online. Rebecca is our top DIY contributor, has a design degree and a knack for breaking down luxury rooms for less. She is a busy working mom of baby Brandt, enjoys the hot Phoenix sun, snowboarding, soccer and dreams up design ideas after everyone goes to bed.

Adrienne, PNTV Host

Adrienne enjoys tearing out photos from Pottery Barn-esque magazines and finding the beauty in other people’s junk (i.e. craigslist and flea market treats). While not a mom just yet, some of her very best friends are toddlers. Adrienne is currently studying acting in LA and can be found hosting various web tv gigs.

Melisa a perfectionist at heart. She’ll waste an entire day arranging and rearranging furniture, photos and accessories until it’s just right from every angle. Often found carrying paint swatches in her purse, she has developed a way to share her love of decorating via Project Nursery. Nap time is her best time because it’s when the house is quiet and she can surf the web to catch up on the latest finds and happenings around the blogosphere. Melisa enjoys renovating the home, web design, cooking for friends & family (visit her other blog The All-American Chinese Cookbook 2) and cool kid decor. All of the above have become a sincere passion since happily becoming Austin’s mom.

Pam has a photographic memory when it comes to referencing the best online shopping sites and magazines for the home and fashion. Keeping up with the latest trends and happenings is her thing and (although she won’t admit it) she is good at it too! When Pam’s not busy chauffeuring her kids Gigi and Gray to school, ballet, gym and music, she is on the quest to find fabulous furniture to fill her Victorian home. Pam is a fan of a little glam and enjoys sharing the contemporary with our readers. Her dream day (which doesn’t happen all that often) includes a strong latte, a long run and a quiet mani/pedi.
